Guitarist Profile

Vincent Kellett
An enthusiast and exponent of all styles of guitar playing, Vincent Kellett has been a classical and flamenco player since his mid-teens. He is largely self-taught, crediting much of his technique to the excellent Frederick Noad book. He has also studied with at the Southampton Spanish Guitar Centre under Adrian Neville and participated in masterclasses with such greats as John Mills.
The winner of the prestigious Villa Lobos prize in the 1991 Southampton Music Festival, Vincent spent some of the intervening years playing as many styles of music as possible to give a broad musical foundation to his performing career. He is one of the few classical guitarists to have featured several times on The John Peel Radio Show and to have supported on tour such chart-topping artists as Primal Scream, George McCrae and Shalamar among many others.
Besides his local teaching work (please see his entry on the teachers page), Vincent is much in demand for classical guitar and flamenco guitar concerts, weddings, private and corporate functions. His ability to play a wide range of popular music from multiple styles makes him extremely popular. The following clips on YouTube give a flavour of some of his work: Classical Gas (Mason WIlliams); Recuerdos de la Alhambra (Francisco Tárrega); La Feria (Juan Martin) and Sunburst (Andrew York).
Vincent is Musical Director of the Wildern Guitar Ensemble and is also available as part of a duo with Tim Rushworth
